The way the technology relates to AR in The Hunger Games is when the game makers put in the fire, dogs, weather, night and day etc.
The way VR relates to the Uncanny Valley is when they put this nose ring on and they think that they are really in the Virtual world but they're not, they are actually controlling robots in the real world.
