Tū or Tūmatauenga is the god of war, hunting, food cultivation, fishing and cooking. All war parties were dedicated to him, and he was treated with the greatest respect. Maru is the son of Rangihore (god of rocks and stones) and the grandson of Maui.He was also known as the god of fresh water like streams and rivers.
