Reflection on Week 3

This week in English and Pe we learn about a Maori game. We learned about Ti Uru, to play Ti Uru you will have to have a flat open palm must be used at all times when carrying the Ki or ball. 6 players minimum to play. Equipment needed will be a Ki ( a triangle ball, or block of wood) Cones, PLace mats and Band for teams
How to play.

Attack: Pass the ki to one of your players standing on a mat to score points. Player (standing on a mat) must catch and control the ki on the fall with an open hand. Defense: Stop the other team from scoring points by intercepting a passed ki. How to score points: Catch near hips = 1 mat removed, catch above the head = 2 mats removed, catch ki on the back of the neck without using your hands = game-winner. Ki is passed into the field of play by the referee at the beginning of the game and after each score. Alternatively, each team can start halves or quarters and defending team starts after each score. The ki cannot go directly from defense to the attacking zone; it must be passed to the players in the middle zone. Must be caught open-handed to score, when using a ki. If it is caught waist-high take away 1 mat, head high take away 2 mats, catches behind the neck wins the game.
What do you get out of playing this? Your hand/eye coordination gets better, improved balance, teamwork, strategic thoughts and awareness

Refection on Lacrosse

Today I learned how to play Lacrosse, Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. Intercrosse is a mixed-gender non-contact sport that uses an all-plastic stick and a softer ball. We played Lacrosse but we adapted to our classmate's abilities.

Reflection of Palin

Palin is a stick and ball game originating in southern Chile and southwestern Argentina by the Mapuche People. There is a ritual celebration accompanied by prayers, dances and feasting meant to fortify both individual and communal relationships. It can be played between two friendly communities or sometimes to settle differences between antagonistic tribes, thus avoiding the armed conflict.

This Term we are looking at combining PE with English to study new games from different cultures, I learnt about the cultural game called Palin from the Mapuche tribe, They played Palin to stay fit in the wars, after funerals and to resolve conflicts between tribes.

I enjoyed learning this new game as it was interesting.

English Connections

Today in English we learnt about Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

Virtual Reality is when you go into a fake world full of digital environment and players.

Augmented Reality when the fake world comes to reality through technology.

The relations between VR and AR in the movies Uncanny Valley and The Hunger Games is the technology.

The way the technology relates to AR in The Hunger Games is when the game makers put in the fire, dogs, weather, night and day etc.

The way VR relates to the Uncanny Valley is when they put this nose ring on and they think that they are really in the Virtual world but they're not, they are actually controlling robots in the real world.
